“Contemporary Chinese Transportation” - Online Cross Cultural Exchange Project for Brazilian Students
I. Introduction to ECJTU
Founded in 1971 and located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province with long history, East China Jiaotong University(ECJTU) is an educational and research institute that provides a wide range of teaching and research opportunities. We currently offer courses in eight academic disciplines: Science, Engineering, Economics, Management, Literature, Law, Education and Art. At present, we have more than 23,500 registered students ,1930 staff and faculty members, including more than 500 professors and associate professors. ECJTU is composed of 18 schools, offering 3 doctoral programs of the first-rank disciplines, 16 masters programs of the first-rank disciplines, and over 60 undergraduate programs.
ECJTU takes an active part in international exchange and cooperation. We have been authorized by the Chinese Ministry of Education to recruit international students from all over the world and have established comprehensive and multi-level ventures with more than forty overseas universities.
The Foreign Languages School has been offering bachelor program in Portuguese since 2018, in which Chinese students are learning Portuguese and the culture. As Brazil is one of the dominant countries speaking Portuguese language, students are keen on communicating with Brazilian students.
II. “Contemporary Chinese Transportation” - Online Cross Cultural Exchange Project for Brazilian Students
Held by the School of Foreign Languages of ECJTU, this project has been approved and funded by the Center for Sino-foreign Language and Culture Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, aims to deepen the understanding and experience of Chinese language, Chinese culture, especially Contemporary Chinese Transportation among participants from Brazil and build a platform for friendly exchanges between Chinese and Brazilian students.
(I)Target Participants
Anyone who are interested in Chinese languge, Chinese culture or Contemporary Chinese Transportation, including students from Brazilian universities or employers from Brazilian companies.
■No requirements for Chinese proficiency
■No age limitation
■Up to 70 students.
Those who have completed the course and assessment tasks will be issued certificates from ECJTU University.
(II) Duration
20. Jan. 2024-03. Mar. 2024 (6 weeks in total)
(III) Teaching Methodology
Multiplatform: online real-time teaching + language partner support + after-class assignment.
Languages: English as the main language and Portuguese as a complementary language.
This online camp will include:
1. Twelve online Lectures on Contemporary Chinese Transportation by a team of Chinese teachers;
2. Five Gramatics and Text Class every week teached by experienced Chinese teacher；
3. Chinese students and teachers will be paired with Brazilian students to help learn oral Chinese via Speaking Class and daily online chat;
4. Weekly Experience Class to show you what real life likes in China and online talent shows and cultural exchanges between students from both sides.
(IV) Timetable
* February 9, 2024 will be Chinese New Year, so there will be no activities from February 7 to February 10.
* Don't worry if you have time difference problems, these lectures will be recorded and can be replayed and studied at any time before the end of the camp.
·Gramatics：Monday、Tuesday、Wednesday、Thursday、Saturday 20:30-21:15（Brasilia Time）
·Speaking：Monday、Tuesday、Wednesday、Thursday、Saturday 21:25-22:10（Brasilia Time）
·Lectures on Contemporary Chinese Transportation：Saturday 9:30-10:15 & 10:20-11:05（Brasilia Time）
· Interaction class：Sunday 20:30-22:45（Brasilia Time）
